Today we are showcasing a very special book that has been shortlisted for The Solutions Awards: Horrify Me by Rick Jones. It is a fantastic book full of unique art that definitely warrants sharing. Just a quick note, this book is full of horror-inspired art so if you're squeamish, it may not be for you!
Horrify Me by Rick Jones
We are excited to share this one, but first of all, a little about the project. Horrify Me is a small, one-man, award-winning creative studio that specialises in horror-themed portrait photography and fine art horror images. The process involves comprehensive make-up, special effects, and fake blood, allowing people to experience high-end horror make-up shot under atmospheric studio lighting conditions. Some of the work is carried out with professional models to create images for posters, magazines, books, and other items of interest.
"I do all the make-up (except where I invite a guest artist into my studio), lighting, photography and image editing. I am a professional graphic designer and lifelong horror movie fan."
As you can see, the book screams quality and thanks to the hardback covers, it feels amazing in your hands. Although the covers look great, the real magic happens when you flick through the pages. The book is full of Rick's horror portraits of his amazing horror make-up skills and it's easy to see why he is an award-winning talent. The portraits look like they could have been taken straight from a Hollywood movie and that's no exaggeration.
